年越しそば “New-Year noodles”

Hi Explorers!
If you’re in Japan during Japanese New Years, known as お正月 “Oshougatsu”, then you are in for a treat. During this time many special dishes are prepared for this period. Traditionally, these dishes were prepared beforehand and usually a few days worth were made so as to give the wives much needed rest and a chance to enjoy the holiday! One popular dish to consume during this time is 年越しそば “New-Years noodles”. These longer noodles carry a special significance. Longer noodles makes for a longer life. These locally made noodles use delicious buckwheat grown in Hokkaido’s Tokachi area.
Available at most soba restaurants around Hokkaido, but I would like to recommend one of my favourite companies. These locally made noodles use delicious buckwheat grown in Hokkaido’s Tokachi area.
